Net worth, assets and debts

The top of the Account tab answers the biggest question of all: what am I actually worth? Connected bank balances count automatically, and everything else — your home, investments, pension, vehicle, loans — can be tracked as assets and debts alongside them, in one total. Tap the Net worth card for a breakdown by category or by individual asset.
What counts into net worth
- Connected bank accounts: balances update automatically with every sync.
- Manual and import accounts: the Cash account and any accounts you’ve added yourself.
- Assets you add: anything you own, in categories like Cash & Savings, Investments (stocks, ETFs, funds, crypto, and more), Physical Assets (real estate, vehicle, art), and Pension.
- Debts: credit cards, mortgage, and loans are tracked as negative values in Debts & Loans, so the total is your honest net position.
You can create your own asset categories and subcategories, and every account can be assigned to a category so the breakdown reflects how you think about your money. To keep an account out of the total, turn off Include in net worth on that account’s details page.
Adding an asset or debt
- Open the Account tab and tap Add asset.
- Name it, pick a category, and enter its value. For a debt, switch the value to Debt (categories under Debts & Loans do this automatically).
Under advanced options you can pick how the value is tracked:
- Single value — just the current value; update it whenever it changes.
- Value over time — keeps a history, so you see how the value developed.
- Value with contributions — tracks contributions and withdrawals separately from growth, so you see your investment’s actual gains.
- Unit-based — for holdings bought and sold in units (like shares): tracks cost basis, realized and unrealized gains.
Assets with a history show a chart and statistics like total return and value gain on their detail page.
Updating values
Asset values change only when you update them — Bilance doesn’t track market prices, so your investment and property values are as current as your last edit. Connected bank balances are the exception: they update themselves through bank sync.
A complete net worth also makes AI Chat more useful: when Bilance knows your full financial situation, questions like “how am I doing?” get answers based on everything, not just your spending.
