How do I connect my bank account?

Connecting a bank takes a couple of minutes. Once connected, the account syncs automatically and your finances stay up to date on their own.
How to connect
- Open the Account tab and choose Add account.
- Pick the country your bank account is in.
- Select your bank from the list. Bilance supports more than 2,300 banks across 31 European countries.
- Continue to your bank’s own sign-in page. The connection runs through a regulated open banking provider (GoCardless or Enable Banking, depending on the bank), and you authenticate directly with your bank. Bilance never sees your bank login credentials.
- Approve access and choose which accounts to add.
That’s it. The first sync starts in the background and your transactions appear shortly after, cleaned up and categorized automatically.
Good to know
- Access is read-only: Bilance can see transactions and balances, and can never move your money. More in Security & Privacy.
- The approval you give at your bank expires periodically under European open banking rules; the app will ask you to renew the connection when it does.
- If something goes wrong during the connection, the troubleshooting guide covers the common causes.
- If your bank isn’t listed, tell us at hello@bilanceapp.com or through the in-app chat.
- No bank connection possible? You can still import transactions from a CSV file or add them manually.
