Trouble signing in? Common problems and fixes

You can sign in to Bilance with Apple, Google, or an email and password. Your data lives in your Bilance account, not on your phone — so on a new device, signing in with the same method and email you originally used brings everything back. Nearly every sign-in problem comes down to accidentally ending up in a different account. Here are the three most common cases and how to fix them.
“I signed in, but my data or subscription is gone”
This almost never means lost data. It means you’re signed in to a different account — for example, you originally used Continue with Google and now used Continue with Apple, or you used another email address. A freshly created account is empty and shows the paywall.
- Sign out (Account tab → Settings → Sign out).
- Sign back in with the method and email you used when you first set up Bilance. If you’re not sure, try the one you use for most apps — and check for a second email address you might have used.
- If your subscription still isn’t recognized, tap Restore on the paywall. This reattaches an existing App Store or Google Play subscription, and works when you’re signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account that made the purchase.
One thing to know when switching platforms: App Store subscriptions don’t transfer to Google Play or the other way around. Your data comes along fine, but after your paid period ends you’ll need to subscribe on the new platform’s store.
“I signed up with Apple, and there’s no Apple button on Android”
Sign in with Apple is only available on iOS and the web. To use the same account on Android, set a password for it:
- On the sign-in screen, choose Continue with Email.
- Enter the email tied to your Apple ID and tap Forgot your password?
- Open the reset link and set a password. You now have an email sign-in for the same account, with all your data.
If you used Apple’s Hide My Email when signing up, your account is under the relay address, not your real one. Find it on your iPhone under Settings → [your name] → Sign in & Security → Sign in with Apple — it looks like xxxxx@privaterelay.appleid.com. Use that address in step 2.
“The verification or password reset email never arrives”
Check your spam folder first — these emails land there surprisingly often, especially for Apple relay addresses. Give it a few minutes; you can resend from the same screen. If nothing arrives, you may be requesting the reset for an email that isn’t actually on your account (see the Hide My Email note above). Still stuck? Contact us through the in-app chat or at hello@bilanceapp.com and we’ll trigger the email from our side.

- “Account already exists.” You tried to sign up with credentials that already have a Bilance account. Choose Sign in in that dialog and use the existing account instead — creating a second account would start you from zero.
- Changing your email works in Account tab → Settings → Change email if you sign in with a password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, first add a password to your account using the Forgot-password steps above, then change the email.
- Forgot your PIN? The PIN protects the app on your device and is separate from your account. Tapping Forgot your PIN? signs you out; sign back in and set a new one. See PIN code and Face ID.
