Bilance vs Wallet by BudgetBakers

Facts last verified:
Both are serious European budgeting apps with automatic bank sync and learning categorisation. Wallet offers more features in more places: investments, CSV import, a one-time Lifetime purchase and very flexible group sharing. Bilance is more focused: EU/EEA bank coverage you can check before installing, automatic detection of subscriptions and recurring bills, and one clear view of spending and net worth in 24 languages. We make Bilance, so check every claim: each fact below comes from an official page, checked on the date above.
What Wallet does well
Wallet, by Prague-based BudgetBakers, has been built since 2014 and has a broad feature set:
- Sharing with real permissions. Group Sharing lets the owner give each member admin, edit, read-only or no access per account. Only the owner needs Premium.
- Investments in net worth. Stocks, ETFs, crypto and manually priced assets can sit next to bank accounts.
- Data import. The web app imports CSV, XLS and OFX files. Bilance has no file import at all, so if you need to bring in old data, Wallet can and we cannot.
- A one-time purchase option. Besides subscriptions, Wallet sells a Lifetime Premium unlock. Bilance is subscription-only.
- A licence of its own. BudgetBakers is itself a licensed account-information provider in the EEA, supervised by the Czech National Bank.
Where Bilance is stronger
- Coverage you can verify first. Bilance publishes its bank list: 2,300+ banks across the EU/EEA, browsable by country before you install anything. Wallet claims 15,000+ institutions worldwide but publishes no European-only count, and its App Store page still says 4,000 banks.
- Recurring payments are automatic. Bilance detects subscriptions and repeated bills from your transactions and tracks them on their own screen. Wallet’s Planned Payments are useful but you schedule each one by hand, and they are not available in its web app.
- Everything included. Bank sync sits behind Wallet’s Premium plan next to a free manual tier. Bilance has no permanent free tier: it is one paid subscription with everything in it, and most new users start with a full-featured trial; the exact terms are shown in the app before you pay.

Both apps categorise automatically and learn from corrections; that one is honestly a tie. And both depend on each bank’s own interface quality, so sync reliability varies by bank for both.
Which one is for you?
Choose Wallet if you want investments inside your net worth, need to import old data from files, prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription, or need per-member permissions in a shared group.
Choose Bilance if you want to confirm your banks are covered before you start, want subscriptions and bills found for you instead of scheduled by hand, or you and your partner want a simple shared view of chosen accounts.
