Facts last verified:

Yes. Bilance works in Italy. You can connect 390+ Italian banks, the app is available in Italian, and a successful connection usually takes a few minutes per bank (the exact flow depends on your bank). The complete, regularly updated list of supported Italian banks is at bilanceapp.com/banks/italy — checking your own banks there is the only research you really need to do before trying it.

Bilance was made for European banks: it syncs your accounts automatically and does the categorising for you. If your money is spread across several places (a current account at one bank, a prepaid card from another provider, maybe an old account still open in another region), Bilance’s job is to put all of it into one view.

Banks: who can connect

Bilance connects to 390+ banks in Italy through PSD2 open banking. The coverage spans the large national groups, online banks, and hundreds of regional and cooperative banks, including those in the Banche di Credito Cooperativo (BCC) network. Rather than list names here and let the list go stale, we publish the live directory at /banks/italy. It is generated from the same production data the app uses and shows the date it was last verified.

If one of your banks is not on the list, you can still track it with a manual account. Check the directory again later, because coverage can change.

Language

The Bilance app is available in Italian, one of 24 languages it supports. Our website and articles like this one are in English for now. Customer support is done by humans.

Setup, step by step

  1. Install Bilance and create an account.
  2. Choose your bank from the Italian bank list in the app.
  3. You are sent to your own bank’s app or website to approve read-only access. You log in at your bank, never inside Bilance; Bilance never sees your credentials.
  4. Approve the accounts you want to share. Your transactions sync in, and the AI categorises them for you automatically.
  5. Repeat for your other banks and cards, so everything reports into one view.

The permission you grant is the standard EU open-banking one: read-only, time-limited, and supervised by financial regulators. What that means in practice is explained in PSD2 in plain words, and the general safety question is covered in is it safe to connect a budgeting app to your bank?. You can stop the syncing or delete a bank connection in Bilance at any time.

The honest fine print

  • Bilance is a subscription app: no ads, no selling your data, no pushing loans or insurance. Most new users start with a full-featured trial; the exact terms are shown in the app before you pay.
  • Coverage is broad but not total. A handful of smaller institutions and some card products do not yet expose data through open banking. The directory is the source of truth, not this article.

If your banks are on the list, the practical next question is what daily money tracking across several Italian banks actually looks like. That is covered in tracking spending across Italian banks.
