Can you use Monarch or Copilot in Europe?

No: Monarch Money is available only in the United States and Canada, and Copilot Money only in the United States. Both companies say so themselves on their help pages, so if you bank in Europe, neither app can connect to your accounts. We make Bilance, a European budgeting app, so treat our word with the usual suspicion and check the sources below yourself.
What their own pages say
- Monarch’s help center FAQ says the app supports the United States and Canada, with US and Canadian dollars as the only currencies.
- Copilot’s help center says it supports only US financial institutions, is available only in the US App Store, and works in US dollars only.
Why US apps do not reach European banks
The bank connections these apps publish cover American institutions, and European banks are not on the list. Connecting a European bank is a separate job: banks here share account data through open banking interfaces built under EU payment rules (PSD2), country by country and bank by bank. An app built for the US banking system does not get European coverage for free; it has to build it. There is also a plainer barrier for Copilot: it is distributed only through the US App Store.
What works in Europe instead
The experience people want from Monarch and Copilot (accounts synced automatically, most transactions categorised for you, spending and net worth in one view) exists on European open banking. Bilance connects 2,300+ banks across the EU/EEA (you can check your bank before installing), categorises most transactions automatically and improves with your corrections, and gives subscriptions and recurring bills their own screen.
For the details, two pages go deeper. If you specifically wanted Monarch or Copilot, the alternatives article matches European apps to what drew you there, including how to bring an exported CSV with you. For the whole field, start with the best budgeting apps in Europe.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Monarch Money in the UK?
No. Monarch names the United States and Canada as its supported countries, so UK banks are not covered either.
Is Copilot Money in European App Stores?
No. Copilot says it is available only in the US App Store, and that it supports only US financial institutions and US dollars.
What can Europeans use instead of Monarch or Copilot?
Some European apps built on open banking cover the same ground. Bilance syncs European banks, categorises most transactions automatically and tracks net worth; the alternatives article on this site maps other options to what you liked about Monarch or Copilot.
