Bilance vs MoneyWiz

MoneyWiz is one of the deepest personal accounting apps on Apple devices; Bilance is an automatic budgeting app for iPhone and Android built around European banks. MoneyWiz offers investments, forex, reconciliation and more than 30 report types, but only on Apple hardware, with bank sync behind its Premium plan. Bilance does less accounting and more automation: EU/EEA bank coverage you can check before installing, subscriptions detected for you, and a built-in AI Chat. We make Bilance, so check every claim: each fact below comes from an official page, checked on the date above.
What MoneyWiz does well
MoneyWiz, made by SilverWiz (a company founded in 2010), is currently sold as MoneyWiz 2026 (the vendor’s pricing page still says MoneyWiz 2025). Its strengths are real:
- Serious accounting depth. Banking, cash, credit, loan and investment accounts live in one net worth, including crypto and forex, with reconciliation and multi-currency support. The vendor claims more than 30 report types, from cash flow to profit and loss. Bilance has nothing at this level of accounting detail.
- Manual tracking without paying. The App Store listing states no limits on accounts, budgets or transactions in free use; the paid tiers sell cloud sync (Standard) and bank sync (Premium).
- Wide import and export support. CSV, QIF, OFX, QFX and MT940 files can be imported, with CAMT added in the 2026 releases, and full database backups can be exported. Bilance imports CSV only.
- Strong scheduled-transaction tools. Repeating income, bills and transfers with auto-pay and auto-skip feed a forward balance forecast.
- Praised support. Fast, detailed customer support is a repeated theme in its UK App Store reviews.
Where Bilance is stronger
- Android exists. The current MoneyWiz runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac only; Android and Windows versions are no longer sold or developed, and we found no published browser app. Bilance is built for iOS and Android, in 24 languages.
- A bank list you can browse before installing. Bilance publishes its bank list: 2,300+ banks across the EU/EEA, browsable by country before you install anything. MoneyWiz markets 40,000 banks in 55 countries, but its bank list is only searchable inside the app, which needs an active subscription or trial.
- Sync you do not have to think about. MoneyWiz puts bank sync behind Premium, and its own documentation says Apple decides when background refresh runs, so refreshes can be irregular. Bilance has one subscription with everything in it, and syncs your accounts when you open the app.
- Subscriptions are found for you. Bilance detects recurring patterns in synced transactions and suggests them; you confirm, then each is tracked with its amount, next date and paid status. MoneyWiz can search your history for repeatable bills on demand, and otherwise you schedule each item by hand.
- An AI you can ask. Bilance’s AI Chat is its own tab: ask about your spending, budgets, subscriptions or net worth and the answer comes from your own numbers. MoneyWiz applies AI and learning to categorisation, and no conversational assistant appears on its published pages.
- Sharing with boundaries. MoneyWiz Premium can share a whole database with other iCloud users. Bilance lets two people share chosen bank accounts: the joint account is visible to both, personal accounts stay private.
One caution from readers rather than from us: recent UK reviews cluster around the 2026 iCloud migration, reporting crashes, licence problems and failed data restoration. These are review themes, not measured facts, and MoneyWiz still rates 4.6 in the UK and US stores.
How we tested
We compared Bilance and MoneyWiz across bank sync, automation, recurring payments, net worth, sharing, platforms, and pricing model. Every non-Bilance fact in the table comes from the vendor’s own website, help centre, legal documents, or app store listing, opened on the date shown with that cell’s source link. Where we could not verify a point, the table shows a dash instead of a guess. Bilance behaviour was checked in the current product. We did not run hands-on device tests of the other app for this article. The verdict is our editorial judgment, not a scored ranking, and we recheck the facts every two months.

Switching from MoneyWiz
MoneyWiz can export transactions as CSV and complete database backups as ZIP files, so your history is portable. The CSV moves into Bilance’s dedicated import account: columns are recognised automatically, and MoneyWiz category labels are matched onto your own categories. For everything current, you connect your banks and recent transactions sync in directly, most of them categorised automatically; how far back the synced history reaches depends on each bank.
Which one is for you?
Choose MoneyWiz if you use only Apple devices and want real accounting: investment, crypto and forex accounts, reconciliation, deep reports, or free manual tracking with no transaction limits.
Choose Bilance if your household includes Android, you want to confirm your banks are covered before you start, or you want the work done for you: most transactions categorised automatically, subscriptions detected, and an AI Chat that answers from your own numbers. Bilance has no permanent free tier: it is one paid subscription with everything in it, and most new users start with a full-featured trial; the exact terms are shown in the app before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move my MoneyWiz data into Bilance?
Yes. Export your MoneyWiz transactions as CSV and upload the file to Bilance: it lands in a dedicated import account, columns are recognised automatically, and category labels are matched onto your own categories. Ongoing data syncs in directly from your connected banks.
Does MoneyWiz work on Android?
The current MoneyWiz does not. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac; the vendor states that legacy Android and Windows versions are no longer sold, supported or developed. Bilance is built for iOS and Android.
Which app finds subscriptions automatically?
Bilance detects recurring patterns in your synced transactions and suggests them; once you confirm, each is tracked with its amount, next date and paid status. MoneyWiz offers scheduled transactions you set up yourself, plus an on-demand search of your history for repeatable bills.
Do both apps sync European banks?
Yes, both use PSD2 open banking. MoneyWiz connects EEA banks through Salt Edge, behind its Premium plan, and its bank list is searchable only inside the app. Bilance includes bank sync in its one subscription and publishes its full EU/EEA bank list on its website.
